Vardy delayed making his decision over the £20m move until after Euro 2016 finished and his equaliser in England’s 2 – 1 win over Wales earlier this week may have extended that to the Round of Sixteen at least.
It has raised questions over his commitment to any move and Leicester are increasingly hopeful that it is a sign he isn’t going to leave the King Power.
Failing to sign the top scorer in last season’s Premier League creates a headache for Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman has been rebuffed by Alvaro Morata, 23, who prefers a move to Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford, and Gonzalo Higuain, 28, with the Argentine international set to sign a new deal at Napoli.
In the meantime, Wenger is looking to the future with Fulham’s Moussa Dembele, 19, the latest French youngster to be linked with a move to The Emirates.
The Championship side are determined to keep him at Craven Cottage but Dembele recently rejected an improved contract. He has previously seen Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United show an interest in his services, following a stalled move to Tottenham last January.
Signing a young player will not appease Arsenal supporters who grew frustrated by Olivier Giroud’s failure to score in a run of fifteen games which saw them drop out of the title race by Easter.
