Turkey might have not reached the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but it is undeniable that they have some good young players coming up in their system. And one of those is Cenk Tosun, a Besiktas striker who has been targeted by several English Premier League sides in recent months.
However, England is not the only country knocking on Tosun’s door. According to a report from ESPN FC, Juventus are set to enter the race to acquire the talented Turkey international who has been impressing both at club and country level over the past 18 months.
The Old Lady have been looking for a suitable backup for Gonzalo Higuain for quite a while now, and it seems Tosun fits all the criteria they are looking for. He is young, experienced, and has nothing left to prove in his league right now. But The Old Lady will find stiff competition to acquire the striker.
Crystal Palace already saw a bid for Tosun rejected during the Deadline Day, and they are set to enter the race to land him again once the January transfer window opens. Tottenham, Everton and Newcastle have also been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old forward, so there won’t be a shortage of bids for his services.
Tosun is coming off a 24-goal season, and played a huge role in Besiktas’ title-winning campaign. He has been even better this year, already scoring 10 times in 15 appearances across all competitions, with four of those coming during Besiktas’ stellar UEFA Champions League run.
