Premier League giants Manchester City and Tottenham fixed their sights on Paris St-Germain’s recalcitrant midfielder Adrien Rabiot a Daily Express report claims.

The 23-year-old continues to refuse to sign a new deal with the French champions and continues on a one-way path toward the exit door.

However, the English clubs face strong competition for his signature from Juventus and Barcelona. The Catalans are also monitoring Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong, 21, a target for Tottenham.

City believes they have an advantage over the other teams. A thirteen-year-old Rabiot spent a summer at the club’s academy before deciding to continue his football career in his native France.

Thomas Tuchel observed earlier in the summer:

“His future is in his hands, the decision belongs to him.

“He has to decide whether he is engaging with us, how we work, or whether he chooses a new challenge.”

Rabiot endured a difficult phase of his career last summer when he refused a place on the standby list for the World Cup finals. It led to war of words with the France coach Didier Deschamps as well as his own club.

A fly in the ointment is the Daily Express claim that Rabiot’s mother is demanding a £10m signing-on fee once the player signs for a new club.
