Manchester City want to make a huge splash in the transfer market next summer. The Citizens are coming off an impressive 6-0 win over Watford this past Saturday, but they are ready to dip into the market once the window opens in January.
And even though signing Alexis Sanchez remains a priority, Pep Guardiola is also keen to secure the services of Robert Lewandowski, according to a report from The Mirror.
Lewandowski has been one of the most productive forwards in the world over the past few years, and there is no question he would instantly become a success at the Etihad Stadium. However, it is not quite where the Bayern Munich star fits in the current squad. Aside from having a surplus of attacking players, City have an extremely prolific duo in Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus. The South American pair has combined for 11 goals this season already.
Lewandowski’s potential exit has been rumored for several weeks now. The 29-year-old is reportedly questioning Bayern’s ambition with Carlo Ancelotti linked with an exit, which means reuniting with Guardiola at the Etihad could become an option. After all, Lewandowski lived some of his best moments when Pep was the manager at the Allianz Arena outfit
Lewandowski has scored nine goals in seven matches during the current term, and has netted an impressive tally of 119 goals in 154 matches with Die Roten.
