FC Barcelona are interested to sign Marco Verratti from PSG. Every football fan should at least be aware of the Blaugranas’ interest to land the Italian, and it seems they will maintain the pursuit of the defensive midfielder in the coming weeks.
Even though PSG issued a hands-off warning to Barcelona regarding the potential transfer of Verratti, Los Cules want to wait until the chance to sign the Italy international arises. And with that in mind, Barcelona are set to wait during the entire transfer window if necessary.
Players such as Paulinho, Miralem Pjanic and Jean-Michaël Seri have been linked with a move to Camp Nou this summer, but it seems it’s either Verratti or bust for newly-appointed manager Ernesto Valverde. There is no question the Italian would fit perfectly in Barcelona’s midfield, but PSG needs to approve any potential deal – even if the Italian wants to play for Barca next season.
Reports over the weekend suggested Barca would be willing to include Ivan Rakitic or Andre Gomes as a makeweight in any potential Verratti deal, but the club’s sporting director, Robert Fernandez, said the team’s “intention is not to lose any players.”
Verratti is coming off another stellar year with PSG in which he contributed with three goals and eight assists in 43 matches across all competitions.
