Inter Milan are not the European powerhouse they once were. The club won the UEFA Champions League less than 10 years ago, but they have become a second-tier club in Italy over the past years thanks to the dominance from Juventus and Napoli.
Things could change this summer, however. The Neroazzurri have an ambitious project in their plans, and they have been linked with several big-name players over the past few weeks. The last two potential signings come from Serie A rival Fiorentina, as reports from several local outlets have detailed Inter’s interest in Borja Valero and Federico Bernardeschi.
Gazzetta dello Sport first reported Inter’s desire to sign Bernardeschi, a coveted 23-year-old winger who can play all over the attacking third. He’s considered one of the top talents in the league, and clubs such as Juventus and Chelsea have already asked about his services. He would become a cornerstone piece for Inter, but they will have a tough path to sign him.
As for Valero, the Spanish defensive midfielder has one more year left on his current deal, and Luciano Spaletti is keen to land him – especially if Ever Banega completes his rumored exit to Liga MX side Tigres this summer. CalcioMercato has reported Fiorentina would let him go for a €5 million fee.
