Real Madrid are not going to back down on their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe. Even though the French forward just completed his first season with PSG, Los Merengues are convinced that they can snatch the teenager from the Ligue 1 giants during the upcoming transfer window.
In fact, an exclusive report from Sport indicated that Real Madrid are preparing a summer bid for the 19-year-old, and the idea would be to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer once the 2018 World Cup – where Mbappe will represent France – comes to an end.
Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for former FC Barcelona star Neymar, but it seems they will be able to sign only one of the two. And apparently the France international is gaining traction since most directors see him as the perfect long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, since the Portuguese star is not getting any younger.
The 19-year-old Mbappe moved from AS Monaco to PSG last summer on a season-long loan with an option to buy, and that officially remains the case until July 1st, when the option will be activated and he will become the world’s second most-expensive player, after Neymar.
Mbappe enjoyed a great debut season for PSG. Even though he was often the team’s third attacking option behind Neymar and Edinson Cavani, he still finished the campaign with 13 goals and eight assists in 27 Ligue 1 appearances.
