Barcelona sensationally offered Arsenal the ideal replacement for Aaron Ramsey, 28, when he leaves the Emirates next summer. According to an Independent report, 24-year-old midfielder Denis Suarez can leave the Camp Nou for just £14m in the January transfer window.
The Gunners are keen to strengthen their midfield and at that price, Suarez fits their profile. Since dropping into the Europa League, Unai Emery has been hit with a reduced transfer budget and is cutting his cloth accordingly.
Even then there may be room for further negotiation. Suarez made first La Liga appearance of the season in the Catalan derby against Espanyol last weekend. His eight-minute cameo brought his total match time in the major competitions this season to 32 minutes.
The former Spain international also has two Copa del Rey appearances under his belt, scoring twice against Cultural Leonesa in the Camp Nou recently.
Chelsea and AC Milan are also both interested in the former Villarreal man. The Blues is less appealing to Suarez due to competition within their squad for his midfield berth.
He recently stated that his preferred destination is the Emirates but that depends on a bid being forthcoming from the Gunners.
Unai Emery is preparing to overhaul his squad with his initial focus on the ageing defence. But Suarez may be viewed as good value for money given his relatively young age and experience gained at a major club.
