Cristiano Ronaldo Wants Real Madrid Exit Following Recent Tax Accusations

Real Madrid have managed to become the top team in Europe over the past few years. With three UEFA Champions League titles in the last four years and after winning LaLiga this past season, Los Merengues have turned into an unstoppable force led by Zinedine Zidane and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Ronaldo’s romance with Real Madrid could be reportedly coming to an end. According to an ESPN report, the star forward wants to leave the club this summer following the accusations of tax evasion that were made against him

Earlier this week, a Spanish state prosecutor accused the 32-year-old Ronaldo of failing to pay €14.7 million on image rights earned between 2011 and 2014. Similar to what happened to Lionel Messi, CR7 might risk a jail sentence against him, but all signs indicate he would have to pay a massive fine and conduct a public apology. Either way, it seems Ronaldo is not ready to do any of those things, and instead would prefer to leave Madrid and play elsewhere.

Considering he’s one of the two best players in the world right now, there would be no shortage of suitors for his services. Manchested United have always wanted to bring him back to Old Trafford, while PSG and Manchester City have always been interested in signing him and both have the resources to pay for his transfer fee.

We will have to wait until the end of the Confederations’ Cup to see how this story ends. But there is no question that Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid would change the European football landscape as we know it.
