One of the biggest losers from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival to Manchester United has been Romelu Lukaku. The Belgium international has struggled to gain consistent playing time, and has not started many games under the Norwegian’s tenure.

A player with Lukaku’s class and importance – he’s highly regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe even if he hasn’t had a very good season in 2018/19 – should be quite uncomfortable on a bench role, and that’s exactly the case. However, Lukaku might end up leaving Old Trafford sooner than expected if his situation does not change.

According to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, Inter Milan are likely to target the Belgian this summer if two things happen: Lukaku’s situation at Manchester United does not change, and Mauro Icardi’s context at Inter continues to worsen up. The Argentinian has been recently removed from his captain role, and he wasn’t called up for this weekend’s contest against Sampdoria.

For what is worth, Icardi has been struggling to score of late and his potential contract extension has been a topic of discussion among Inter’s fans and directors. Icardi’s wife and agent, Wanda Nara, has played a pivotal role on this situation dragging for such a long time. And the Serie A giants seem to have gotten bored with the two of them.

If he leaves, expect Inter to target Lukaku. As long as he remains keen on leaving The Red Devils, of course.
