Diego Simeone knows Antoine Griezmann will probably leave Atletico Madrid at some point of his career. And apparently the Argentinian tactician would be okay with that scenario.
Simeone said he would not deny the chance to leave to any of his players if they wanted to continue their growth somewhere else. This could lead Griezmann, 26, to leave Los Rojiblancos in the near future since he has been linked with a move away from Los Colchoners for quite a while now.
“Of course he can leave at some point, like Diego Costa and Arda Turan did in their day,” Simeone told L’Equipe. “I love watching my players grow, and if one of them tells me that they have the unique opportunity of playing for a certain team, after they did everything they could for me, like Griezmann has done, I’ll say it’s not a problem. I know that he needs to grow.”
Griezmann is under contract with Atletico Madrid until 2022 but has a €100 million release clause. Manchester United, FC Barcelona, and PSG have all made enquiries for the France international, and he could either leave in January, or during the summer.
The French forward has five goals and three assists in 12 Liga matches this season, and has added two goals and two assists in six Champions League encounters.
