Manchester City are ready to act in the January window to sign one of Ligue Un’s most highly-rated midfielders, according to talkSPORT.

The Premier League champions are monitoring OGC Nice star Wylan Cyprien with scouts watching the Guadeloupe-born midfielder.

Cyprien spent four years with Lens, becoming a regular fixture in their starting line-up. He moved to Nice in 2016, where he has scored 11 goals in 46 appearances compared to the 9 he managed in 113 games for Lens.

It’s form which has seen the France Under-21 international tipped for bigger things. Real Madrid are reported to have extensively scouted Cyrpien last summer. As with much of Los Merengues business, it never came to fruition.

City were slow to act in the summer with Guardiola largely happy with the squad which romped to the Premier League title. Cyprien appeals to the Spaniard because he is not cup-tied for the Champions League, a target the City owners tasked the former Barcelona boss with winning.

However, Cyprien has not declared his intention to leave the Cote d’Azur yet. There is a familiarity with his situation to that of Jean Michael Seri who left Nice several years after Europe’s elite clubs were looking at him.
