Inter Milan have gone a huge makeover this season, especially on the defensive end after Gary Medel joined Besiktas and also considering that Jeison Murillo is set to sign with Valencia. But they could be on the verge of bolstering their back line in the coming days.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Inter are reportedly interested in Eliaquim Mangala to bolster their defensive unit. Mangala does not count for Pep Guardiola this season, and the French centre back is reportedly looking to leave Manchester City as soon as possible.
Inter would certainly represent a decent alternative to gain first-team minutes on a consistent basis. He already spent last season on loan at Valencia and all signs indicate he will play elsewhere in the 2017-18 campaign as well.
The Serie A side have Mangala as their prefered target, but are yet to agree terms with either him or City. If both parties fail to reach a deal, then Inter would reportedly turn to Jason Denayer. The Belgium international also belongs to City, but has spent the last three years on loan at Celtic, Galatasaray and Sunderland, respectively. Mangala is their top choice, though, and are expected to explore several alternatives to sign him.
Mangala has two years left on his Etihad contract and has registered 64 appearances for City following his £31.8m move from Porto in 2014.
