AC Milan have appointed former Sampdoria manager Marco Giampaolo as their new manager ahead of the 2019-20 season. The Rossoneri side has already signed Rade Krunic to bolster their midfield, but they’re not done dealing this summer.
Several reports have linked Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet with a Milan switch this summer. The talented playmaker looks set to leave the club this summer and his former manager reportedly wants to bring him to Milan.
The 25-year-old Praet has also been linked to Arsenal and the midfielder’s agent, Martin Riha, told Calciomercato: “AC Milan is an important brand, it’s a big name. But there are also other clubs that want to sign him, especially abroad, they’ve already shown their interest … There are many clubs interested, we’ll know everything in a few weeks.”
However, Arsenal’s limited budget could cause them to be secondary players for Praet if there’s a bidding war for his services. Milan are looking to do everything they can to reduce their gap with the Top 4 sides this next season, and Praet would be a solid addition. His playmaking skills from central midfield could boost Milan enormously, although he can also operate as a left midfielder or left winger on some instances.
Praet registered two goals and three assists in 34 Serie A appearances for Sampdoria last season.
