Barcelona might be set to claim another Liga title at the end of the season while also keeping themselves alive on both the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League. However, they’re already looking towards the future.
One of Barcelona’s biggest concerns for the short-term future is to find a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan is not getting any younger and while he remains productive, he will probably decline sooner than later. But Los Blaugranas have identified who they want as a replacement.
According to a report from Marca, Barcelona’s director of football Eric Abidal was at the San Siro on scouting duty Thursday night, adding fuel to speculation that the Spanish giants are plotting a move for Eintracht Frankfurt star striker Luka Jovic.
Jovic, however, is currently on loan at Benfica so the Spaniards will have to negotiate with the Portuguese giants in any potential move.
It’s been quite a rise for Jovic, who might go from being at outcast at Benfica to become Barca’s new signing in a 12-month span. His form this season has alerted Europe’s elite squads, and now everything points towards him leave Germany towards Spain.
The Serbian has notched 15 goals in just 23 Bundesliga appearances this season.
