Despite the fact that Real Madrid have one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Keylor Navas, they have constantly looked at potential replacements for the Costa Rica international.
Names such as David De Gea, Jan Oblak and Thibaut Courtois have been linked with a move to Los Merengues. However, we can now add a new name to the list since Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo is reporting that the Champions League holders are set to make a summer offer for AS Roma‘s Alisson.
The Brazil international is enjoying a breakout campaign with the Serie A outfit, and he has also settled himself as the first-choice goalkeeper in the Brazilian national team that is set to compete in the 2018 World Cup in a few more months. He is not a world-class keeper (yet) but sounds like the best option available considering neither De Gea nor Courtois are likely to leave their respective clubs this summer.
Real Madrid would have to fight off several competitors, however, as both Monaco and Liverpool have also taken long, hard looks at the 25-year-old Brazilian. Madrid can easily compete with them on a financial basis, so it would be fair to consider them as favourites to land the talented shot-stopper in case they decided to make a serious offer.
