The Nerazzurri have been watching Sarr for some time but with Unai Emery looking to imprint his own brand of football in north London, Arsenal are in the market for a winger cum wide attacker.
The 20-year-old Rennes winger was nominated for this season’s FIFA Golden Boy award. He moved to the Rouges et Noirs in 2017 after a season with Metz in which Sarr scored five goals in 33 games.
Rennes want to hold onto the youngster until the summer with previous interest shown by Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United. If Sarr repeats his goal in the recent UEFA Europa League against FK Jablonec; an auction would raise more than the £20m Rennes value the winger at.
Sarr has 19 Senegal caps, with three goals to his name. The winger featured in all three of Senegal’s Russia 2018 group games although he wasn’t able to add to the goal he scored against Croatia in their pre-World Cup finals friendly.
This season, the 20-year-old has two Ligue Un goals to go along with his goal in the Europa League, taking his total to three goals in six appearances.
