Luka Jovic has been one of Real Madrid’s disappointments during the 2019-20 preseason tour so far. The Serbian striker has not been able to adjust to what the manager wants and there has been talk of him potentially leaving the side on loan ahead of the upcoming campaign.
That “loan talk” is even crazier if we consider that Real Madrid signed Jovic just two months ago from Eintracht Frankfurt. By all accounts, he needs time to adjust to what Zinedine Zidane wants from him. Sending him out on loan could destroy his morale going forward.
Even though that sounded like a possibility, it seems it won’t be the case as LaLiga kicks off their 2019-20 season on Friday. It’s not like Real Madrid have a lot of time to find a potential taker for Jovic, especially considering he’s not exactly a “cheap” player when it comes to his wages.
It remains to be seen whether he will have much of a chance to thrive at the Santiago Bernabeu or not. But as of right now, Jovic figures to start the season as Karim Benzema’s main back-up alternative for the striker position. Securing the starting role will depend solely on him and if he can convince Zidane, but he hasn’t been able to do so thus far.
