Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane knows he needs to strengthen his midfield depth ahead of the 2019-20 season. Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are not getting any younger, and the Croat’s constant injury woes have forced the French tactician to look for alternatives in the middle of the pitch.
Paul Pogba continues to be Zidane’s priority, but it looks very complicated that the Frenchman will end up leaving Manchester United. And with that in mind, Zidane is now looking at a backup plan. He goes by the name of N’Golo Kante.
Chelsea’s sources are well aware of Madrid’s interest for the France international, and the aim is quite clear. After losing Hazard to the Santiago Bernabeu outfit last term, the idea would be to maximize the potential transfer fee. For what is worth, both Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois – Real Madrid players that featured for Chelsea and played alongside Kante – have already approved the potential move.
Considering Federico Valverde is Madrid’s lone potential alternative in case something happens to Casemiro, Zidane would be wise to look for another option to boost the midfield. Kante would fit perfectly, as he could do something similar to what Claude Makelele used to do for Los Galacticos last decade.
