One of the biggest surprises in the English Premier League during the current term has been the play of Ruben Neves. Even though Wolverhampton Wanderers are not playing as well as they were during the first few weeks of the season, the Portuguese playmaker has managed to stand out on his own.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been an absolute star for the Molineux side ever since he joined the club last season, but right now some of the top teams have been tracking him down. And among those we can find Juventus. The reigning Serie A champions are quite interested in making a move for the Portugal international.
One of the biggest advantages Juventus might have is the fact that Neves’ agent is none other than Jorge Mendes, who played a big role in bringing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. And considering Neves already knows Ronaldo from his time with the Portugal national team, he shouldn’t have problems settling in on Italian soil.
Juventus do have an abundance of playmakers, with names such as Miralem Pjanic, Sami Khedira, Rodrigo Betancur and Blaise Matuidi playing on a regular basis. But considering Neves’ age, he could very well become a signing for both the present and the future of the squad.
Neves signed a new five-year contract in the summer, but that might not matter if the right offer comes along. So you shouldn’t be surprised if we see Neves featuring for the reigning Serie A champions sooner rather than later.
