Borussia Dortmund have had a lot of luck with their loanees of late. Following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal in January, both Michy Batshuayi (last season) and Paco Alcacer (the current one) have been excellent for the Bundesliga heavyweights.
And now, Borussia Dortmund are determined to exercise their €23 million purchase option to acquire the Spain international outright from Barcelona. Dortmund acquired the former Valencia star near the transfer deadline in an effort to bolster their attacking line, and there is no doubt that his move has paid off.
The 25-year-old striker has been nothing short of sensational in the opening stages of the 2018/19 season. He has bagged seven goals in only four appearances, impressing Borussia Dortmund officials who want to make his loan deal a permanent transfer as soon as possible.
His impressive form has translated to the National Team as well, as he netted a brace during Spain’s 4-1 win over Wales this past Thursday.
According to German outlet Bild, the idea is to tie down Alcacer on a four-year deal worth €8 million per season. That would make him the third-highest paid player with Mario Gotze and Marco Reus being the only ones ahead of him. Barcelona have the final saying, but there is no question that keeping Alcacer in Dortmund would be the best thing for all parties involved.
