Mario Balotelli is on his way out of Nice, and it seems no one will stop that. Even club officials know the Italian striker is set to leave the Ligue 1 side during the upcoming transfer window, so now it seems to be a matter of where he will end up next.
There have been several alternatives since several Premier League sides have shows interest in the former Milan and Manchester City forward. The Chinese Super League and the MLS could also be an alternative, and in fact, the latter sounds like a realistic option based on recent reports.
In fact, MLS side DC United have been showing interest in Balotelli, according to Sports Illustrated. The American club would transform Balotelli into a Designated Player – meaning he can earn a salary above the league’s cap – and he would instantly become one of the top strikers in the league. That is no small feat, considering names such as David Villa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Sebastian Giovinco and Nemanja Nikolic currently feature on American soil on a weekly basis.
Now it’s up to Balotelli’s Mino Raiola to find the Italian a new club, but it seems DCU surprisingly have the advantage despite the interest of other European sides.
Balotelli has enjoyed a great spell for Nice, netting 29 times in 46 Ligue 1 appearances for the team.
