AS Roma have done a good job to strengthen their squad during the summer. The arrival of Monchi as the club’s sporting director have put the team in a good position to land coveted players, but they could be on the verge of losing one of their most important elements in the coming weeks.
Several media outlets have reported that FC Barcelona are keen to sign Kostas Manolas, in an attempt to bolster their defensive line. Los Blaugranas certainly need depth, because they only have Samuel Umtiti, Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano as CBs on the squad.
However, Barcelona are not alone in their pursuit of the Greek international. Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Juventus have also been mentioned as potential destinations for the 26-year-old defender, and Inter Milan have sneaked on the player’s agenda as well.
Manolas’ agent, Ioannis Evangelopoulos, recently said all the options looked attractive to his client, but at the same time he can’t say anything because Manolas continues to be a player from Roma and is already working in the club’s facilities. He is under contract for two more years at the Italian club.
Zenit also tried to lure the Greek star, but the player himself rejected a potential move to the Russian Premier League. Considering all the offers at his disposal, it is clear Manolas is quickly becoming one of the hottest names of the transfer market this summer.
