Real Madrid will pay more than Neymar Jr’s release clause to land the Brazil international, claims the Daily Mail.

The Paris St-Germain star has been heavily touted to make a move to the Bernabeu after the World Cup finals in Russia and the report states Real Madrid are ready to overpay for his services.

A release clause of €300m becomes active in September but Florentino Perez is determined to smash the world transfer record and bring the player to the Spanish capital. It’s reported that Real are willing to pay around €350m for his Parc Des Princes exit.

After losing his talismanic head coach Zinedine Zidane already this summer, Perez needs to imbue a ‘feelgood factor’ following the club’s third consecutive Champions League win.

The 26-year-old’s father, Neymar, has kept in constant touch with the Real president ever since Barcelona pipped Los Merengues to his signature in 2013.

Reports in the Spanish media throughout the past year suggest that almost as soon as the ink on his move to Paris, Neymar’s father met with Perez to discuss a move to the Bernabeu.

His arrival would be good news for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese striker is negotiating a new deal which will bring his pay close to the level enjoyed by his Brazilian peer and Argentinean maestro Lionel Messi.
