Chelsea are hoping that time spent with the Belgium squad will persuade Roma’s Radja Nainggolan, 28, that his future lies in west London.
The midfielder recently admitted that he has spoken to new Blues boss, Antonio Conte, about leaving the Italian capital.
“He has told me what kind of player I can be for him and I feel he still wants me.”, said the midfielder. “However, I am now concentrating on the next few weeks and to see what will happen.”
The pair met in Rome before Conte left for London, whilst Nainggolan can expect international teammates, Eden Hazard, 25, and Thibault Courtois, 24, to hail the virtues of the former Premier League champions.
Conte has long admired the industrious midfielder who joined Roma for €6m in 2014 from Cagliari. Re-shaping the Chelsea midfield is a top priority for the Italian, especially with questions asked over the future of Willian, 27, who was recently photographed carrying excess weight when on international duty with Brazil.
Conte is also looking to bring in Stephan Lichtsteiner, 32, from Juventus as a short-term fix for the under-performing Blues back four. The experienced Swiss international is a versatile defender prefers to play in the full back position but is equally comfortable in the centre.
