Rumour: Arsenal plan £40m bid for Daniel Sturridge

Arsenal are preparing to bring Daniel Sturridge, 26, to the Emirates this summer with a £40m transfer bid to land the player from Liverpool.

Sturridge has been in prolific form when fit for Liverpool, but their in lies the problem with his mounting injury record. This issue has reportedly caused tension between the striker and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, leading to speculation about the players future.

It is understood Klopp does not believe Sturridge will be fit for a whole season and would rather cash in on their star striker, then use that money to sign a more reliable replacement.

This lack of trust in Sturridge from his manager is the reason why he has been benched for several of Liverpool recent fixtures, the player told reporters “I am someone who wants to play every minute of every match so maybe when I’m not starting, it’s hard to take.”

The England international joined Liverpool from Chelsea in 2013 for £13m and would expect a transfer fee of around £40m plus, if they choose to allow the player to leave.
