The transfer saga of Real Madrid‘s new goalkeeper ahead of the upcoming season is one that does not seem have an end any time soon.
Despite the fact that Keylor Navas has done a very good job for Los Merengues, the club’s chairman is keen to add a superstar goalkeeper to the squad. And while David De Gea has been constantly linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu, Thibaut Courtois has also been mentioned as a possibility in recent days.
Considering Courtois’ contract expires in 2019, the Blues’ board are keen to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge as soon as possible. However, all signs indicate that Courtois apparently has other ideas and he would want to play elsewhere after spending the past few years defending Chelsea’s goal.
The aforementioned report has indicated that the 25-year-old is keen to return to Spain, with either Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid as possibilities. Both teams would reportedly fit on what Courtois wants, although Real are the bigger side and could offer him a better salary compared to Atletico.
Even though De Gea remains Madrid’s top target, they would be keen to consider Courtois if the chance arises as well. He is certainly experienced enough to guard Los Blancos’ goal in the near future.
