Mario Balotelli set to end Liverpool nightmare with Ajax transfer

Mario Balotelli, 25, could finally go on his way out of Anfield with Ajax willing to offer him the chance to resurrect his career.

The Dutch club are one step away from the Champions League following their 3 – 2 aggregate win over PAOK Salonika this week and want to add experience to their squad.

Balotelli has been left to train with Liverpool’s Under-21 squad, working on his fitness, whilst the first team prepare for the new season. It’s the clearest indication yet that the Italian has no future at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.

Ajax, with their pedigree, offer a perfect solution for Balotelli with their history of fitting mesmeric talents into their squads down the years. For one whose emergence onto the Italian football scene was hailed as a ‘Second Coming’, the opportunity may be too good to miss.

It may also be his last chance at joining a prestigious club. Sampdoria were very public in their desire to sign the errant striker but revealed the chance has been rejected by the player. Opportunities are few and far between for him at the level he desires.

A quickly earned and well-deserved reputation for being troublesome coincided with a goal drought. Balotelli has just 2 goals in his last 36league appearances for Liverpool and AC Milan. It’s a record which is damaging his ambition to join Europe’s elite.

Moving to the Eredivisie offers an opportunity to Regis over his goal touch and bring him a career many believe his talent deserves.
