Moussa Dembele is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur with Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan close to agreeing a deal for the midfielder reports the Daily Mail.

The Belgium international returned to fitness recently after suffering an ankle ligament injury but cannot fight his way into the Spurs matchday squad. Dembele, 31, has been omitted by Mauricio Pochettino from the team which faces Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.

The North London club rose to third in the Premier League table in his absence as well as progressing to the knockout phase of the Champions League and through the initial rounds of the domestic cup competitions.

It’s claimed Beijing offered £11m which is enough to tempt the Tottenham board into talks over a deal.

At his pre-Chelsea press conference, Mauricio Pochettino claims no deal is completed yet:

“’I’ve heard nothing yet. I know like you there are a lot of rumours. If something arrives, we are going to listen and then it’s what we want to do, or the player wants to do, it’s about to negotiate, talk, like always it happens in that business.”

Dembele is understood to be receptive to the idea of a move to China with the riches that contracts bring.
