The Serie A season has not ended yet and AC Milan still have a lot to play for since they are in the midst of the UEFA Europa League race. However, the Rossonero side is already looking towards the upcoming season and could make several moves in the transfer market.
In fact, according to a report from Il Corriere dello Sport, it seems Gennaro Gattuso’s team is already looking to several high-profile footballers as they aim to reinforce their ranks. Adding a defender and a striker are priorities, but the forward role should be the most important position Milan should tackle. They defintively need a proven goalscorer.
And one of the alternatives that could become a potential transfer target for Milan this summer is none other than Mario Mandzukic.
The Juventus player has been forced to adjust to a smaller role this season due to the arrival of Douglas Costa, and he would be keen to leave the side since he wants to play first-team minutes and, most importantly, on his natural striker role. He has been forced to adjust to a winger role in the last two seasons with the Old Lady.
Manduzkic is not the only alternative on the market for Milan, though. Another alternative would be Balde Keita, as the former Lazio star is enjoying a decent campaign at Monaco but he would be open to a return to Italy. Milan would be open to offer Andre Silva – who has not adjusted to the Serie A – in a potential swap deal.
In addition to Keita and Mandzukic, Fellaini plan to offer a short-term deal to Marouane Fellaini who is set to become a free agent once the season ends. The Belgium international is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer, and Milan would be keen to add the 30-year-old to bolster their midfield depth.
