Monaco are bracing themselves for another Manchester raid with United set to bid for Djibril Sidibe as they prepare to replace Luke Shaw, reports the Daily Mirror.

The former England defender has been told he has no future at Old Trafford and Manchester United are looking for an experienced defender to join the squad. With the appeal of Champions League, United are confident of persuading the player to join them.

United have looked at a number of defensive solutions including Alex Sandro of Juventus and Celtic’s promising Kieran Tierney. However, 25-year-old Sidibe has emerged as a favourite of Jose Mourinho.

Sidibe played a starring role as Monaco reached the latter stages of last season’s Champions League. Once Manchester City among others picked over the bones of that squad, the Monegasque were unable to enjoy the same levels of success, crashing out of the Champions League at the group stage.

Despite the loss of key players, Monaco are second in Ligue Un, albeit 15 points behind inevitable champions Paris St-Germain.

Sidibe has fifteen caps to his name, collecting his only goal for France in the 2 – 1 win over England last June. His is a name Didier Deschamps will include in his World Cup finals squad without a moment’s hesitation.
