Inter Milan have been one of the top teams in the Serie A this season, but they need a couple of reinforcements during January if they want to maintain themselves alive on the title race with Napoli and Juventus.

The Neroazzurri have been looking to upgrade their attacking line this January, and it is believed that they are keeping close tabs on Gerard Deulofeu’s situation. The former Milan and Everton winger appears headed for a Barcelona exit, and Inter would likely pounce on that to bring him to Guiseppe Meazza.

The Under-21 Spain international seems to be the odd man out in Barcelona at the moment, considering the return of Ousmane Dembele and potential arrival of Philippe Coutinho. But Inter’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, said “there have not been any formal offers submitted for anyone” over the next few days.

“There have been no formal offers for Deulofeu, but we are paying attention to the situation. If there are the conditions to try something, we know the characteristics we are looking for. Deulofeu could be the right profile, but he isn’t the only one,” Ausilio told Mediaset Premium.

Deulofeu already knows what is like to play in the Serie A, as he spent six months with AC Milan on loan from Everton at the end of last season. He scored four goals in 17 Serie A appearances, triggering Barca to exercise his buy-back clause. But he has not been able to settle as expected at the Camp Nou, and all signs indicate he will leave the club sooner than later.
