Real Madrid will do whatever it takes to improve their midfield depth during the upcoming January transfer window. Los Merengues’ boss, Zinedine Zidane, is not happy with his current midfield options and he wants to bring either Christian Eriksen or Paul Pogba to Santiago Bernabeu next year.

Signing Paul Pogba will be extremely expensive and it seems Manchester United are just unwilling to part ways with the French midfielder. With that in mind, Zidane has made Eriksen his priority ahead of the upcoming transfer window and he would be willing to include Modric in a potential offer to sweeten the pot.

Let’s remember Modric already played for The Spurs in the past. The Croatia international represented the Premier League giants just before joining Real Madrid, and he scored 13 goals in 127 league appearances for them. Now he would a chance to get back, but only if Madrid are able to convince Eriksen to move to Madrid as part of the deal.

Modric has struggled with injuries this season and he hasn’t been able to settle as a starter for Los Merengues this season. Knowing he’s probably past his prime, Zidane wants to offload him to bring new blood to his side. Will the strategy pan out?
