Real Madrid have made their first Galactico signing of the summer, and they have snapped one of the most prolific strikers in the world over the past 12 months.
According to an official statement from the club, Real Madrid have signed Luka Jovic to a six-year contract, which means the Serbian striker will be tied to Los Blancos until the end of the 2024-25 season. Jovic had an impressive with the German outfit while on loan with Benfica, since he finished with 17 goals and six assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances.
His numbers look even better if we also count the Europa League, where Frankfurt reached the UEFA Europa League semifinals with the Serbian as a key player. Jovic finished with 27 goals and seven assists in 48 matches in all competitions. He was on loan at Frankfurt from Benfica, and now the German side have made excellent profit by selling him to Los Blancos.
Jovic’s arrival might trigger Karim Benzema’s departure. The 31-year-old French striker might have plenty of suitors after scoring 30 goals and 11 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions. But now it’s Jovic time at La Casa Blanca.
Jovic is expected to be introduced officially as a Madrid player in the coming days. Undoubtedly, this was quite a signing for Los Merengues.
