Inter Milan have done a decent job to strengthen their side during the summer with the arrival of players such as Borja Valero and Matias Vecino. However, the Serie A side is not done yet. And they are reportedly looking at one of the best defensive midfielders in the world to become their marquee signing of the summer.
Based on a report from La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Inter are keen to sign Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich. The 30-year-old already knows what it’s like to play in the Serie A, as he spent four years with Juventus before joining Bayern back in 2015.
Inter previously wanted to sign Radja Nainggolan and Naby Keita, but both clubs rejected Inter’s approach. Vidal, on the other hand, could welcome a return to Italy. Some of the best years in his career happened in Juventus after all.
Inter would be willing to offer Bayern up to €50 million for Vidal — more than the €37m Bayern paid Juventus to acquire him in 2015 — and then would offer him wages of €7.5m a season.
The Chilean international said he does not know anything about a potential move and Carlo Ancelotti said his star midfielder “is not going anywhere”. But if Vidal can force the move in an attempt to make an Italy return, then nothing would stand in the way of Inter to acquire the former Juve star.
