Liverpool and Arsenal’s hopes of signing Portugal international Raphael Guerreiro, 22, have been dealt a huge blow by Borussia Dortmund, as the German club have supposedly agreed personal terms with the left back.
However, a fee has not actually been agreed with FC Lorient yet, with the French club holding out for the best possible price for the defender, who’s contract expires at the end of the 2016/17 season. Although this could offer some form of hope to the Premier League teams, this looks increasingly slim after Guerreiro’s representatives met with Dortmund executives to discuss a switch to the Bundesliga.
The talented fullback has caught the eye this season, with a series of rampant displays. A sublime free-kick for Portugal in a 3-0 friendly win against Norway on the 30th of May underlined why so many top European clubs are after his services. Dortmund’s £9.3 million bid was turned down by Lorient and Guerreiro’s value could sore if he performs well at Euro 2016.
Arsenal and especially Liverpool, are looking to strengthen the full back area, after Alberto Moreno’s disastrous display in the Europa League Final. Even though is not a done deal yet, the two clubs may have to start turning their attention elsewhere.
