United Will Sell De Gea But At A Price

Jose Mourinho has re-opened the door on David De Gea’s dream move to Real Madrid, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Manchester United manager named his price for the 27-year-old goalkeeper to leave Old Trafford and it’s cash with Gareth Bale coming in the opposite direction.

Mourinho is a long-time admirer of the 28-year-old Welsh international and is prepared to sacrifice arguably the best goalkeeper in the world for a successful pursuit of Bale.

It’s an interesting theory; weaken your defence but beef up the attack. Arsène Wenger summed Arsenal’s problems as “When people say we’ve conceded too many goals, I think we don’t score enough goals”; is Mourinho of the same mind at Manchester United?

Bale’s time in Madrid has been ravaged by injuries and he has found himself the target of the Bernabeu boo-boys. Discussions between the club and his representatives last summer made it clear that he wanted one more season in La Liga before returning to England.

Real, still smarting from their failed bid for De Gea three years ago, have continually been linked with another move but every summer saw nothing happen. Until this season, winning the Champions League and La Liga has been enough but their poor form has seen focus falling on Keylor Navas, 31.

Would Mourinho contemplate a three-way swap with Navas coming to Old Trafford as well? It would certainly solve one of their summer problems. Watch this space is the byline!
