It is not a secret that Jose Mourinho wants to improve the Manchester United squad during the January transfer window. An attacking midfielder and a left-back are among the priorities, but that is not the only position the Portuguese manager wants to strengthen.
There are reports that Mourinho also wants to add another attacking player, and it is believed that they are leading the pack to sign Bordeaux’s forward Malcom, who was been one of the best players in the Ligue 1 this season. In fact, The Sun reported that United are now at the front of the queue, despite the French club’s determination to keep their star.
The aforementioned report indicated that Mourinho would likely offer around £30 million for the Brazilian forward, as he sees Malcom as the ideal signing to add both flair and versatility to the team’s attacking line. Malcom can operate both as a winger on both flanks, or as a second striker.
The potential arrival of Malcom would also generate a positional change for players such as Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. They have been playing on the wing this season, but the arrival of a new wide player would allow both to play on the central role they are more used to.
Bordeaux would be open to negotiate, according to the Mail, but any transfer talk would likely take place during the summer since the Brazilian is a key player for Bordeaux and wouldn’t want to part ways with him midway through the season.
