Having missed out on Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez, Premier League side Arsenal are turning their attention to Paris St-Germain starlet Christopher Nkunku, according to a Metro report.

France Under-21 international Nkunku, 21, cannot break into the first XI at the Parc Des Princes and is keen to make a move to a club where he will find better opportunities to play more frequently.

Gunners boss Unai Emery knows Nkunku well from his time in Paris. The midfielder featured 20 times last season in Ligue Un, scoring four goals. However, this season opportunities in the starting line-up are proving harder to come by.

Current PSG boss Thomas Tuchel is keeping Nkunku involved in the first-team squad although his 13 appearances this season have come mainly from the bench with only five starts so far in Ligue Un.

Arsenal hoped to land Suarez on a six-month loan deal to strengthen their midfield. However, the deal fell apart when the Blaugrana insisted that Arsenal must buy the 24-year-old rather than having the option to make the move permanent.

The Gunners are now trying to work on a similar deal with the reigning French champions. PSG are keen to bring in new faces this season with Adrien Rabiot, 23, leaving when his contract expires and demoted to training alongside youth players.

Les Parisiens lead the race to sign Leandro Paredes, 24, from Zenit St Petersburg although they face strong competition with Chelsea also interested.
