Manchester United could lose one of their most talented young players during the next few weeks.
Dutch winger Tahith Chong is widely considered as one of the club’s biggest long-term prospects, and many believed he would be ready to play a role within the first team sooner than later due to his explosive form with the U23 side. However, Chong has struggled every time he has received the chance to play with the senior squad. And now, he might have set their sights on leaving the club.
According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, the 19-year-old has reportedly rejected Manchester United’s latest contract offer, and that means Chong would be eligible to negotiate with overseas teams in January 1st, 2020, if he doesn’t sign a new deal with the Old Trafford outfit by then.
Based on recent news, Chong wouldn’t be interested in signing a new deal especially after the rumour that Juventus might want to make a move for him during the next few months. But if he has struggled to fight for a first-team place at Manchester United, things might not be any different at Juventus considering the plethora of attacking options in the Serie A champions’ current squad.
Chong’s deal runs out at the end of the 2019-20 season.
