Inter Milan have set their sights on Romelu Lukaku in an effort to improve their attacking line ahead of the 2019-20 season. But they have also established a back-up plan in case they can’t acquire the Belgium international.

According to a report from Sky Sports News, the Serie A giants are also interested in former Manchester City and current AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko. The Neroazzurri side already submitted a €12m offer for the Bosnian star and while the Giallorossi rejected the approach, Inter won’t give up that easily.

It is now believed that Inter manager, Antonio Conte, will increase the previous offer so now the club will submit a €15m proposal for the striker who also played for Wolfsburg back in the day.

Roma, however, want €20m for Dzeko and are not expected to settle for less. Manager Paulo Fonseca is understood to be happy with the Bosnia-Herzegovina international and, in the absence of an acceptable offer, is prepared to keep him until his contract expires at the end of the 2019/20 season. Even if that means to let him depart for free next summer.

Dzeko, 33, is coming off a productive year with Roma in the 2018-19 season, where he registered 14 goals and 11 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
