For a club with limited funds, Arsenal are one of the busiest in this transfer window.
Having landed Denis Suarez, 24, on loan for the remainder of the season, the Gunners still expect one more signing. With their interest in Ivan Perisic, 29, ended by Internazionale Milano’s intransigence, the North London club are running out of options.
One whom they are keen on is Christopher Nkunku, Paris St-Germain’s 21-year-old midfield starlet. And the Daily Mail reports, the Gunners could get their way if the French champions sign another midfielder.
This morning saw reports circulate that the fallen Premier League giants were back in talks with Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang over the signing of Yannick Carrasco, 24, on loan for the remainder of the season. An option to buy would then be exercised in the summer.
However, his agent said this afternoon that a deal is unlikely. The clubs remain far apart in their valuations of the Belgian winger.
It’s left Nkunku as their final option. Suarez’s signature allowed the Gunners to loan 18-year-old Emile Smith Rowe to Leipzig with Nkunku adding further depth to the wafer-thin Arsenal squad.
What is for certain, is the next 24 hours will be busy at the Emirates Stadium as the club looks to finish the winter window with at least one more signing.
