Alvaro Morata has finally put an end to his nightmare at Chelsea and has now completed a return to Spain since Atletico Madrid have confirmed his arrival from the Premier League giants on an official press release.

The talented striker, who couldn’t take advantage of his chances and ended falling out of favour with Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, has another chance to re-launch his career and will remain at the Wanda Metropolitano on an 18-month loan, meaning he will be a Colchonero until the end of the 2019-20 season.

Despite his previous tenures at Real Madrid, this won’t be Morata’s first tenure with Diego Simeone’s men since he previously spent four seasons at Atletico’s academy under the name “Alevin”, and during that time he played alongside Koke. During the official press release, the Liga side happily pointed out that the pair will now be reunited in the first team.

Morata, who has also played for Real Madrid and Juventus in the past, simply didn’t have enough chances to impress Maurizio Sarri and has instead decided to move abroad. Now he will have to battle for playing time with Diego Costa in order to partner Antoine Griezmann upfront.

During the current 2018-19 season, Morata registered nine goals in 24 appearances (across all competitions) for The Blues.
