Miguel Almiron’s switch to the Premier League hasn’t been as smooth as many predicted, but that hasn’t stopped Premier League sides from looking at other potential MLS stars.
Josef Martinez and Carlos Vela have gained attention of late, but the latest name to sneak as a potential new Premier League player is none other than Ezequiel Barco. The Argentina youngster and Atlanta United star has been linked with a potential move to either Manchester United or Arsenal.
Even though Barco might have a tough time cracking the starting lineup for any of these two teams right now, there’s no question he is an interesting prospect teams should be looking at closely. A versatile attacking midfielder who can play all over the attacking third, Barco has tremendous upside and it’s clear he is already becoming too good for the MLS despite being just 20 years old.
In fact, Portuguese outlet Record has mentioned both The Red Devils and The Gunners are open to submit a bid for Barco as soon as the January transfer window re-opens. That said, it’s unclear whether Atlanta is looking to part ways with their star playmaker following a season where they couldn’t win the MLS Cup title.
Napoli have also been linked with a move for Barco. But right now, he seems closer to land at the Premier League in the near future.
