One of the biggest issues for FC Barcelona heading into the 2019-20 season was the abundance of central midfielders on the squad. Ernesto Valverde wanted to see how the season played out to determine the future of several players, and it seems of those has the writing on the wall already.

We’re talking about Croatia international Ivan Rakitic. Once an important part of the club and owner of a vital role in midfield following the Xavi – Iniesta era, now it seems the former Sevilla star has no space on the club. The perfect example was the fact that he was left out of Barca’s squad for Tuesday’s win against Villarreal.

After that, it seems Rakitic has made a decision and he would be willing to leave the club during the January transfer window. Valverde already blocked his potential PSG move this summer, but the manager wouldn’t stand on the way of the Croatian now. Especially knowing Barca have lots of other players who can play his position.

However, the reigning Ligue 1 champions wouldn’t be the only team looking to secure Rakitic’s services. Juventus are also keen on a move for the Croatian star, who was won 104 caps with his country while scoring 15 times, as they would look to bolster their midfield depth.

One way or another, all signs point towards Rakitic leaving the Camp Nou outfit sooner than later.
