PSG have been quite active ahead of the transfer market, and it has been rumoured that the Ligue 1 giants are looking to add midfield depth. They are looking to upgrade that position of the pitch ahead of both the January transfer window, and next summer’s one.
One of the names that has emerged as a potential transfer alternative over the past few days has been the one of Charles Aranguiz. The Chile international is widely considered to be one of the most consistent box-to-box midfielders in Europe, and there is no question he would fit quite well in Thomas Tuchel’s tactical system.
At the very least, Aranguiz would offer a different style when compared to PSG’s current midfield depth. He is far more technical than the other in-house alternatives — Marco Verratti, Idrissa Gueye and Leandro Paredes — but also offers far more dynamism than Ander Herrera, who joined earlier this year from Manchester United.
It is also worth noting that PSG sporting director, Leonardo, is a huge fan of Aranguiz’s capacities. He would be on board with the arrival of the former Colo Colo, Universidad de Chile and Inter Porto Alegre star.
So far this season, Aranguiz has one goal and one assist in 10 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen.
