Former England captain John Terry is looking forward to a Chelsea reunion next season, according to football.london.

Despite back-to-back defeats against Queens Park Rangers and Bolton Wanderers, Terry believes Aston Villa will win promotion to the Premier League and he wants to be part of it.

It’s an about-turn for the 37-year-old who joined the Midlands side last summer as he wanted a clean break from the Premier League. He reasoned that bar a freak of luck in either of the cups, he wouldn’t face Chelsea until he was ready.

After his departure from Stamford Bridge was confirmed, the centre-back claimed he wasn’t short of offers to stay in the top flight.

I won’t name names but I’m thankful for the interest in me,” he said.

“My thoughts are 100 per cent here and the ambition is to get us back to the Premier League. It’s a huge club. Villa Park is one of the finest stadiums in the country and there’s a good group of players here.”

Terry originally signed a twelve-month deal with the Villans but is so pleased with his form and fitness that he wants to extend his contract.

Recent results have gone against the Birmingham-based club, leaving them to hope the negotiate the play-offs to return to the promised land of the Premier League.
