There have been lots of rumours regarding a potential departure of Keylor Navas from Real Madrid. The Costa Rica international has said he wants to play on a more regular basis, but right now it seems he’s only the back-up alternative to Thibaut Courtois. Due to this, it was believed he could have been made available during the upcoming January transfer window.

That’s not going to be the case, though. According to Marca, Los Merengues have no intention to let Navas leave the club any time soon, and are comfortable having both him and Courtois to handle the goalkeeping duties.

Navas was Real Madrid’s starting goalkeeper in each of their past three Champions League titles and was a key player under the tutelage of Zinedine Zidane. However, the Costa Rican has lost his starting place to Courtois, who joined the side from Chelsea during the transfer window last season.

However, with him being 32 years old this Sunday and having made clear that he has no intention to leave the Spanish capital, it seems hard to imagine any side moving for him. Especially since few teams in the world could match his €5 milllion per year and those who can already have a starting goalkeeper in place.

So don’t get too excited with a potential exit from Navas. All signs point to that not happening any time soon.
