Julian Weigl could be on his way out of Borussia Dortmund due to his lack of first-team opportunities, but there’s already one team that is looking to snatch him away from the Bundesliga leaders. We’re talking about none other than Serie A powerhouse AC Milan, as they are reportedly preparing a winter transfer move for their long-term target.
The 23-year-old talented midfielder is widely considered to be one of the most exciting young players in Europe, but he hasn’t had many chances at Dortmund this season and has been relegated to a secondary role. And while Dortmund are not keen to part ways with him, they also acknowledge this might be the best outcome for all parties involved.
This isn’t the first time we are seeing Weigl being linked with a move elsewhere. Paris Saint-Germain already attempted to land the Borussia Dortmund starlet during summer as Thomas Tuchel wanted to bring the talented German with him to Paris, but the move didn’t pan out. He was also linked with a move to Manchester City, but now it seems Milan are in the driver seat to land the Germany international.
AS Roma are believed to be in the running for Weigl as well and AC Milan are keen to wrap up the deal for the midfielder as soon as possible in order to beat the competition.
