Slavisa Jokanovic is looking to Serie A to strengthen his porous Fulham defence, claims the Daily Mirror.

His prime target is AC Milan defender Mateo Musacchio. The 28-year-old moved to the San Siro in summer 2017 after seven years at Villarreal. Capped six times by Argentina, Musacchio featured in all the Rossoneri’s Serie A matches this season as they languish in 10th place.

The Cottagers boss has seen his side ship 21 goals so far this season with their most recent defeat at home to Arsenal ending in a crushing 5 – 1 loss. The manner of their second-half collapse is of major concern to the Serbian and sitting 17th in the Premier League table, the Fulham boss knows he must act if they are to avoid a swift return to the Championship.

Summer signing Alfie Mawson, 24, has yet to feature due to injury while Calum Chambers – on loan from Arsenal – is taking time to settle into the club. It’s left the defence unimproved from the one which won promotion last season. So far, it’s left them with just one clean sheet; against Exeter in the EFL Cup.

With the club’s owners continuing to back Jokanovic, a busy January window is expected as the West London club fights for its’ Premier League survival.
